A suburb of Kiev in Ukraine. For the past four years, my visits there – here – have been during an ongoing war. Just as the war has changed shape during these years, so has the appearance of society. Here I compare some photos I took in 2023 with photos from the same places in 2026. You can see the devastation the Russian weapons caused, but also how determined restoration work has yielded results

Just a few examples of a transformation that has taken place while the war is still ongoing. Yes, it is still ongoing. Worse than before with more targeted airstrikes from both sides, including against gigantic warehouses, important for the economy and food supply..
One can certainly wish for a better fate for these restored areas, rather than to see them suffer devastation again!
