Ukraine

That Ukrainian Orthodox distance themselves from the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch does not sound so strange, considering the Russian-Ukrainian conflict nowadays. But we are talking about those Ukrainian Orthodox that until today have been under the Moscow Patriarchate ! Not those who are under the Kiev Patriarchate.

In the days have thus been held a gathering where some emotional reactions, but also church consistent views have been noticed. The subject of indignation is the meeting between Patriarch Kirill and Pope Franciscus at the airport in Havana February 12, and especially the Joint Declaration that was signed by both church leaders there. The Moscow Patriarchate Orthodox residents in Ukraine feels apparently completely misguided, and categorizes the things they suffered, as “..worse than during the communist era,” and they compares the Patriarch’s actions with Judas’ betrayal.

Parts of a performance can be heard on the clip below. It is Bishop Longin who speak, and some sentences I’ve translated into english – see below clip!

“Ilim”, a pro-Moscow separatist in Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, was never called as a witness in the trial against the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, which yesterday – 22/3 – was on the second day of the Reading of the verdict, the day when also the sentence – 22 years in prison – was pronounced. Yes, she was considered guilty, according to the judges, of acting as coordinator for fire which lead to the death of two Russian journalists on June 17, 2014.

Ilim ..

“Ilim’s” data is completely at odds with the prosecution, but proving wholly or partially in favor of the defense.

A month ago was published an article (with a certain sting that perhaps is not so easy to perceive for a sluggish Scandinavian mind as mine) on the russian-speaking side of a ukrainian publication, where the ongoing pursuit of political power, wealth and fame in the ukrainian capital Kiev is described, and a number of people who apparently intends to “..follow in the footsteps of Chernovetsky“, are mentioned in a bantering tone. But, is it stated, “..in this completely absurd ‘star-gallery’ is missing only the pastor of ‘God’s Embassy‘, Sunday Adelaja … ”

It depicts NOT Adelaja, but a Nigerian believer in Nigeria. What it concerns Adelaja, he is not allowed to leave Ukraine, since January 2009.

Adelaja did not materialize this time! What can be the reason? When I started to write my “russian-oriented” blog in the swedish language a few years ago, I thought it came in handy, if nothing else as a mere curiosity, to try to follow one in Ukraine already infamous, utterly medial and speculative Nigerian mega pastor – Sunday Adelaja . For various reasons, which might not be so difficult to understand, I have since two years barely had a single post about “the case against Adelaja” except from the 36 posts  I wrote on the theme between 2009 and 2013. Actually I do not think he is really the right person to call peoples attention to, when I, occasionally, have continued to blog about other events, also in Ukraine, precisely during the time when the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated.

Presidents Putin and Poroshenko “discussed” Grand Prince Vladimir’s role in history – in their respective absences – when two historical  dates was commemorated: one thousand years since Prince Vladimir’s death in 1015,  and the anniversary of Rus’ Christianization 987/88.

Thus it has recently (15/7) passed a thousand years since the Great Prince of Kievan Rus, Vladimir (or Volodymyr) , died. Both Russia’s and Ukraine’s leaders have spoken about it. Vladimir I was the grand grandson of the Viking chieftain Rurik, according to the old Nestor’s chronicle.

Lenta.ru: “Vladimir Putin spoke about the sources of the unique Russian civilization, and Petro Poroshenko spoke about the monarch’s European choice.

On Tuesday,  the anniversary of Rus’ Christianization, President Vladimir Putin and President Petro Poroshenko, in public appearances, went apart in their dealing with Grand Prince Vladimir’s role in history.

Grand Prince Vladimir’s choice was  perceptive, and ultimately responsible, and served as a starting point to establish Russia as a unique country within the bounds of civilization … Rus was thus strengthened, and it was growing in power and authority in the eyes of near as well as distant neighbors’, and held talks on equal terms with countries in both East and West … These spiritual roots still today nourish the Slav brother nations of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus‘, said Putin during a solemn reception in the Kremlin on the occasion of  one thousand years since Grand Prince Vladimir’s death. At the end of his appearance  Putin also greeted his guests with the anniversary of Rus’ Christianization.

Vladimir – over a thousand years ago – made not only a religious, but a civilized and truly European choice … Bulgaria and Georgia, Greece, Cyprus, Romania and Serbia have an independent, autocephalous church. In what way does  Ukraine differ from them? Why must we be an exception to the rule? ‘- wrote Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page, where he greeted his followers  with the ‘day of Ukraine-Rus’s baptism!’.

In the Ukrainian historical science, the terms ‘Rus-Ukraine’ and ‘Ukraine-Rus’ are accepted as much as the term ‘Kyiv-Rus’ is to the Russian historians  “.
