This illustrates one of the final episodes in the last chapter of the first book of the famous trilogy ” The Lord of the Rings ” by J R R Tolkien.

 –  As a Christian reader I may reflect upon the temptation of Jesus by the devil in the Gospel of Matthew chap.  4:1 – 11. Wasn’t it what the devil wanted AND WHAT HE STILL WANTS, that Jesus should commit his whole mission in the world – to Satan ?  –

It is when Boromir and Frodo was discussing , after having visited Lothlorien , and then had been traveling with the rest of the ” Fellowship of the Ring ” along the river  Anduin. – Still another bit of the uncertain road towards Mordor ! And they had just arrived to that resting place that became a crossroad – Parth Galen – where Frodo and Sam must leave the others and continue on their own , followed by noone but Gollum.

Part Gx

Boromir was tempted to  “.. use the power of the enemy against the enemy himself ..,” and he wanted to take the Ring from Frodo . But Frodo puts on the ring and becomes invisible , and escapes from him.

This scene have also  become movie –  an animated version made by – among others –  Ralph Bakhsi , the not least famous version made by Peter Jackson , and also a version made  by some Russian amateur filmmakers (here with english subtitles),

Anyway – no slogans with Mr. Putin’s name mentioned occurs during the 1:st of May in Ekaterinburg – according to e1 : “… this year, there were no red banners with ‘Peace! Work! Putin!’ on, which was among the most prominent last year. “

Another indication that Mr. Putin is approaching orthodoxy? Which sometimes seems to be the case.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov  in a recently published interview for the swedish daily  “Dagens Nyheter” :

“- If the West’s approach to human rights develops into plain promiscuity, they disregard the fact that it is contrary to the fundamental basics of our culture, which is based on orthodox religion – Christianity.”

And when Putin  made critical remarks against Lenin in January this year, he, according to yoki.ru , added an explanation :
I was, like millions of other Soviet citizens, member of CPSU. I was not the only member of the Communist Party, but also worked in the KGB. I can recall that in Soviet times when someone was expelled from the Communist Party he also was dismissed by KGB. I say quite honestly that I was not just a formal member of the Communist party, and I was not an idealistic Communist (unlike many officials I was a regular member of the Communist party), but my approach to it was very cautious. I have never thrown away the party membership card, I never burned it, it is still there in my home

The issue of migration and Christian missionary work is discussed in Sweden today. — Should we open our borders for the great flood of migrants/refugees from countries were there is war and persecution, regardless if some “persecutors” are hiding in the crowd ?

– Or should we as Christians see them as an opportunity to share our testimony about Christ, rather than as a potential threat for our society?

For this reason I wrote the following text, first in swedish, with a long quotation from Acts 22. Maybe it is relevant for an english blogosphere as well..

Refugees on their way – whither?

The issue of migration and missionary work may certainly stir up some furious reactions.

How “stir up furious reactions”? There is at least one telling example of this in Acts, in the 22nd chapter, where Paul was given the opportunity to speak to the people in Jerusalem:

Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you. (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
