That is what was carried out on Saturday, June 29 at “Free Ukraine’s Place” next to the Russian Embassy on Gjörwellsgatan in Stockholm. That it was this particular date – June 29 – has to do with the fact that it is the birthday of Ilya Yashin – Yashin, one of hundreds of other political prisoners in Russia.

Ilya Yashin posted a video on YouTube on April 7, 2022, in which he openly criticized the Putin regime’s war in Ukraine. Because of this, he was arrested on June 28 of the same year and was eventually sentenced to eight and a half years in a penal colony. That was in December 2022. He appealed the prison sentence, but the appeal was rejected in April 2023. It is from the latter occasion that this (see below) recording was made, in which some main points of Jasjin’s argumentation are heard, but also a certain commotion that his words caused in the courtroom
The support action on June 29 was arranged by the Anti-War Committee in Sweden Russians Against War.
They write about Yashin in particular: “Now the Putin regime is keeping him in solitary confinement, the same way it did to Alexei Navalny“.
The support action was carried out simultaneously in several different cities, see also here, and here
